Grow Your Health

We have expanded our Health & Wellness Lectures this spring with a new series, Grow Your Health sponsored by Jessica Verde Realtor, based on healthy eating habits, growing food at home, and making healthy food choices.

The new interactive lecture series will begin March 14th and go through May 25th. Lectures will be held at Boone Station Hall and will feature a local expert speaker, a live demonstration (most often a cooking demonstration), and a tasting. From gardening at home to growing fresh vegetables, to learning how to prepare healthy meals, to raising chickens and goats — this series will provide healthy insights for all ages.

The Severna Park Community Center will also partner with Services from the Heart Backpack Buddies, which operates a food distribution program for food-insecure families out of the center during the school year. At each lecture program, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a Home Garden Kit for a food-insecure family for just $10. Backpack Buddies will distribute these garden kits to families in need, providing a way to grow vegetables at home and supplement food choices.
